These three years, the Taipei International Book Exhibition has been canceled or postponed many times due to COVID-19. This year it is finally held in the usual time again, around the Lunar New Year. Below are photos freshly taken in the Book Exhibition (which ends on February 5). Pay a visit this weekend! There are abundant lectures and events in addition to the exquisite booths.

The book launch of Signals Across the Centuries 3: Taiwan History in Images (18th-20th Century) came to a successful conclusion the day before yesterday. Although the audience was not large, I was really touched to see people willing to sit down and listen to our talks for an hour (surprised by the attendance of the new Minister of Culture, and there was a loyal reader who has read the first volume).
It was the first time I went to the book exhibition as a speaker, an amazing experience. There were 7 out of 10 authors, as well as our editors, who attended the book launch. Because of COVID-19 and also because of our scattering residences, we have been meeting online for the past two years, so I met some of the authors in person for the first time yesterday. I was so happy to be able to talk to other authors in person finally.
There is another talk on February 11. Please come and join us!
The February 11 event is a talk on scientific illustrations by another author, Tsai Szu-Wei, and me:
Time: 15: 00-16:30 on February 11 (Saturday)
Venue: Eslite Spectrum Nanxi (No.14, Nanjing W. Rd., Zhongshan Dist., Taipei City)

After the book launch, of course it was time to look around in the book exhibition. Although it was Wednesday on February 1, there were many visitors, and many of them bought books, a really pleasing sight. The guest of honor of the book exhibition this year is Poland, and the red and white of its national flag are used in the design, a simple and elegant presentation. In addition to novels and picture books, there are board games on display — I was curious about what kind of games they are.
